Profile

I am a researcher and teacher with particular interests in community supervision and the work of the probation service. I began my career as a probation officer before moving to an academic role, teaching and leading training programmes for probation staff. I completed my PhD (on the topic of the relationships between public, private and voluntary sector providers in the delivery of probation services) in 2015. Since then I have worked on a number of research projects continuing to investigate the experience of probation supervision and the role of the voluntary sector in criminal justice.

In addition to work here at ˮ˷ on the project ‘Probation’s evolving frontline: An oral history of probation paraprofessionals’ I am currently involved in research projects and teaching at the Institute of Criminology, University of Cambridge.
