The UK’s best Students' Union
Voted the best Students' Union in the country by students for the last five years running, the SU is the centre of Uni’s social life – with events, gigs, and a huge variety of shops and cafes. Five minutes walk from all city accommodation sites, the SU is also where you’ll find your student representatives.

Rent and living costs 

Your rent includes utility bills, contents insurance and internet access, as well as Residence Life events and sports activities throughout the year.

You'll also get 20 free washes and drys in the launderettes at your accommodation. 

All contracts are self-catered and either 42 or 51 weeks in length, with the majority of 51-week contracts reserved for Postgraduate students.

Allen Court 

Allen Court is one of our most popular city residences, and it's easy to see why! With modern en-suite + and deluxe + bedrooms, great facilities, and it's perfect location close to the central faculty buildings and the Students' Union, it's a great option for undergraduate and postgraduate students. 

The Common Room is open 24 hours a day, and there’s a separate games room and movie room for residents to use. There’s also a gym on-site, open from early until late. And of course, our friendly customer services team is available if you need anything.

Allen Court is in a great location, very central to all the main university buildings, and generally is just a nice place to live with good, friendly and helpful reception staff

St Vincent's Place

Only a short walk from Kelham Island and ˮ�˷� city centre, St Vincent's has comfortable en-suite rooms and a range of study spots, music and cinema rooms, all located in the converted church that is the St Vincent's Common Room – making it a beautiful space to hang out or study. St Vincent's Communal Kitchen is the place to cook with your friends, and make new ones!

The rooms are very nice and clean, I feel comfortable here and if you have any problems the reception is occupied 24/7 and there is always a nice person who is willing to help you

Broad Lane Court

Broad Lane Court is our shared bathroom accommodation in the city, with spacious communal areas, comfortable rooms and its own launderette in the courtyard. Located across the road from The Diamond and a short walk to the Students' Union and tram routes, it's a great option for those who want to live centrally on a budget.

Mappin Court

Mappin Court is our shared bathroom Postgraduate accommodation in the City, this residence has a great community feel and is ideally located for those who want to be close to central faculty buildings.

Local area

Students make up about 10% of ˮ�˷�’s population, so as you can imagine local businesses are ready to welcome you – and cater for most budgets. In fact, the city is often voted one of the UK’s most affordable for students.

Travel and the City

Though it’s big, ˮ�˷� is pretty easy to get around. You can walk across the city centre, from the train station to our campus, in about 20 minutes. If you fancy going a little further afield you can make use of our fantastic transport links to other major cities, and of course, it’s just a short journey to the wilds of the Peak District National Park.
